LAMDA exams

This is to make you aware that I coach students for LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) ‘Acting’, ‘The Speaking of Verse and Prose’ and ‘Introductory’ Examinations, and to tell you a little about them.

LAMDA is the largest Speech and Drama awarding body in the UK, and their Graded Examinations are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. There are exams for all age groups/levels.
I personally think these exams are great. The guidelines are clear whilst also allowing lots of creativity. It’s an opportunity to receive a recognised record of achievement and is not as daunting as it first appears! Feedback from candidates and parents is very positive – including how friendly and welcoming the staff are before, and after, the exam (which would be at one of LAMDA’s venues in the Earl’s Court area). My students have received excellent results: all passing with a commendable mark, and most achieving Distinction or Merit. Parents of candidates have commented on how positive the experience was for their child, and how their self-esteem has benefitted emormously.

Obviously exams are optional, and would in no way interfere with classwork/rehearsals. Candidates would need to have approximately 5-6 tutorials (depending on grade). They can enter singly, or, in the case of ‘Acting Duologues’ (9 years plus only), in pairs.
